The client’s combined interest in gardening and in exploring a unique intersection between modern and classic design inspired this Lake Washington home. A careful composition of rooms linked to outdoor spaces anchor the house to site and waterfront. A courtyard garden near the entry provides a sheltered respite from the busy waterway. Within the entry a descending stair connects the upper and lower levels of the house and of the site. On the lake side, terrace and gardens transition to open grasses and the beach.
